Beach Day or Quicksand?

Some days are wonderful, they are like sunny days at the beach. Getting a beautiful tan, relaxing with a tall cool iced tea and the breeze blowing gently through your hair, not a care in the world. Some days are like walking through a cow pasture. You walk along fine, and then you walk in a hole spraining a foot. Then there are days or weeks that you feel like you are in quicksand and are going under, no matter how hard you try to get yourself out, you can’t. Ugh!

You may have had a child come home from school with Covid or you received a bill that was forgotten, which is overdue. OR, your mortgage rates are up, groceries are up, gas for the car is up, the hydro bill maybe up, money is tighter. You may have health issues weighing on you. Or a family member is really sick. Or there may be employment issues or marriage issues. And then you listen to the news, you hear of the conflicts, the domestic violence, and natural disasters. Within five minutes you feel what in the world can I do?

So, what do we do?

1) Give God your Issues and Trust Him.We make a choice to trust in the Lord, based on what the Bible tells us, and allow Him to answer your issues that are weighing down on you. This is not always easy but as we pray about each problem and place it in God’s hands, you will find that God has already begun to work out the issue and help bring about an answer. We know that God is already acting on our behalf. One of the key verses to remember is Psalm 46:1-2 where it says “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So, we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.”

2) Be Still before God and Let Him work. Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God!

I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

In Psalm 40:1-5 says, “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him

4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.

5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.”

Pray! Give your issues to the Lord, wait, and trust the Lord. Waiting is the difficult part. If you are like me, you are a ‘hurry up and wait’ person. Let’s get going here. Where God says to “Be still”, God takes his time and makes sure His plan for us comes out just right. However, the Lord your Redeemer does hear your cry and will lift you out of the quicksand, setting you on a huge strong rock.

As your problems are resolved the Lord shows you His amazing works.

BE STRONG! BE PATIENT! TRUST GOD TO ANSWER!
