Great Canadian Bible Study

Atlantic Baptist Women is blessed to be a part of a collaboration of Baptist women across Canada through Canadian Baptist Women. One of our initiatives together is the Great Canadian Bible Study.

The Great Canadian Bible Study is an opportunity for women to connect with one another locally as well as nationally. As women across Canada take part in the GCBS, they are also given the opportunity to financially and prayerfully support a project of Canadian Baptist Ministries. The GCBS is often done in the winter months, but it can be offered at any time of year.

The 2024 Great Canadian Bible Study is The Women at the Cross written by Rev. Sandy Sutherland. It explores the Gospels to discover who these women were and what we can learn about them and from them. The study also offers a time of reflection on what it would have been like to be present when Jesus was crucified.

The 2024 mission project is Health and Mentorship for Girls and Boys in Kenya. Through this project, Canadian Baptist Ministries’ partner, the Africa Christian Church and Schools, will mentor young school-aged girls and boys by providing sex education and personal hygiene kits. Kits will contain underwear, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and body lotion. Girls will also receive feminine hygiene products. A team of mentors, including pastors, will be established and trained to accompany girls and boys and provide them with the kits as well as with counselling on other related issues. Donations to this project can be made here. Please designate them as "GCBS 2024 Health and Mentoring in Kenya."

You are invited to come together with women in your church and/or community and be a part of the Great Canadian Bible Study. So, choose a time, set a date, and encourage the women of your church/community to attend. Personal invitations are often the most effective. Consider having a breakfast or lunch event. If an in-person event is not possible, consider having a virtual event by Zoom: with your ABW group, with the women of another Atlantic Baptist church, or with your female friends and family across the country.
