John 16:33 “I have told you these things,

so that in me you may have peace.”

Knowing and abiding in Christ brings peace.

Who doesn’t want peace? I like peaceful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere.

I want to be at peace in my relationships

with my family and friends. I can get an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach when peace, especially in my relationships, is disturbed. As much as we would all like to live in a constant state of peace, in reality, we cannot go many days without some sort of disruption or upheaval in our lives.

This is not a peaceful world - not since Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Jesus stated clearly that we will have trouble in this world so we should expect it. Thankfully, He did not leave us with this troublesome statement as a final word. He went on to say, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” God is bigger than any problem I might face. In Him, I can have peace. Abiding in Him, spending time in His Word, being mindful of His presence throughout the day, brings peace that goes beyond my understanding.

Heavenly Father, may I demonstrate your peace when all around me may be in turmoil. Help me to stay firmly rooted in You, my source of peace.
