 Scripture

 Observation (What does it say?)

Application (What does it say to me?)

 Prayer

S - 2 Corinthians 4: 16 -18, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

O - Be encouraged! This short, temporary life on earth with all its trouble will quickly disappear and give way to a glorious trouble-free life for all eternity!

A - It’s all about our eyesight! I can be so short sighted when it comes to living out my faith on a daily basis. Sometimes, I stumble around blindly (without my spiritual glasses even on). Or I am constantly looking down instead of looking up. Maybe my glasses are on but they are smudged or fogged up and I can’t see my way clearly. The burdens begin to weigh me down and the daily list of things to deal with becomes anything but light and momentary. Sometimes it is a strain to throw off the things that weigh me down because I’m focusing on what I can see instead of what I can’t physically see - God’s power, strength, courage and wisdom for the journey but more importantly where this journey is leading me. Sometimes I am helping to carry the heavy burdens in the lives of other believers. It need not be heavy - jus

t light momentary troubles when I fix my eyes on our eternal home and once again realize how short a stay we have here on earth. All difficulty is only for a season and it is what we must expect. We were never promised an easy journey.

P - Your joy, LORD, is my strength. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, God, and not grow weary or discouraged when so many around me are. Clear my vision and equip me to point others to You - the One who can clear theirs as well.
