Stand Firm

S.O.A.P. - a method in spiritual journaling

Scripture

Observation (What does it say?)

Application (What does it say to me?)

Prayer

S - I Corinthians 15:58 “ Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

O - We are called to be steadfast and whole-hearted workers for the Lord.

A - Paul tells us to stand firm not sit tight. Standing demonstrates strength, alertness and readiness for whatever comes our way. It implies a preparation and mental awareness of our surroundings that will see us carrying out fully the purposes to which we are called by God. It doesn’t leave room for worry or regret or being caught unawares. Standing is a stance which means we are ready to move on and forward. It takes a deliberate action to stand and not be satisfied to simply sit and watch life pass by. It means being part of what’s going on around you and not just being a spectator. We are called to be active participants in the Lord’s work, sometimes even standing to shield others from harm or the evil one’s attacks.  Prayer is a powerful way to take a stand.

P - May I always be found standing firm on your promises, Father.
